ElectraTherm Announces its Gas Pressure Reduction Generator
for the Oil & Gas Industry

Carson City, NV -ElectraTherm, Inc., today announced the introduction of its Gas Pressure Reduction Generator (GPRG) for the oil and gas industry. The GPRG utilizes the energy contained in pressure drops throughout gas transmission and distribution systems to produce from 25kW to 1.5MW of fuel-free power or electricity.

In a typical application where high-pressure natural gas is received and low-pressure gas is distributed, such as at city gates, GPRGs can be used in parallel with standard pressure reducing valves to generate significant amounts of low cost power.

Similarly, the GPRG can use the geo-pressure of natural gas on offshore oil platforms to produce enough power to satisfy the electrical demands of the platform through a controlled expansion of a small amount of the gas flow. Because an offshore platform typically requires less than 30kW, the GRPG is far more cost effective than traditional radial inflow or axial turbo-machinery.

At the heart of the GPRG is a state-of-the-art screw expander developed by the City University, London (CUL). CUL - a world leader in twin screw compressor and expander technology - has signed an exclusive license agreement with ElectraTherm for the development and sale of screw-type expanders for electrical power generation.

"We are pleased to announce this first-of-its-kind product to the oil and gas industry", stated Richard Langson, ElectraTherm's CEO. "Our product's unique ability to act as a low cost, scalable, expander-generator represents a true breakthrough for the industry. Moreover, our unit is capable of unattended operation over long periods, and has been designed to withstand remote harsh pipeline and at-sea conditions."
